Grant Carlson
President and Chief Executive Officer

Carlson Grant D. Carlson brings over 20 years of industry experience to Calgenex and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since founding Calgenex in February, 2006. Mr. Carlson has extensive expertise in general management, corporate and business development, product development, product launch, and sales and marketing. read more

Prior to founding Calgenex, Mr. Carlson was President and COO of Nanobac Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company developing diagnostics and drug therapies for diseases associated with soft tissue calcification. Prior to joining Nanobac, Mr. Carlson was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Agilix Corporation, a functional genomics company developing gene expression and protein profiling technologies for biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers. Prior to joining Agilix in 2001, Mr. Carlson served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Dianon Systems, Inc., a leading national anatomic pathology and genomic diagnostic services company. Dianon was ultimately sold to LabCorp for $598 million. During his 12 years at Dianon, Mr. Carlson held senior positions in marketing, business development, technology development and sales. Mr. Carlson led the launch of numerous advanced diagnostic products and biomarkers into clinical practice. He is co-inventor on five U.S. patents involving free-PSA and the diagnosis of prostate cancer. He has authored several scientific papers in the areas of oncology, urology and diagnostic pathology.

He holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles.


James D. Mosbaugh
Vice President

Mosbaugh James D. Mosbaugh brings over 10 years of formulation chemistry experience to Calgenex and has served as Vice President since joining the company upon inception. From May 2005 to April 2006, Mr. Mosbaugh served as project manager and intellectual property consultant of Nanobac Pharmaceuticals, Incorporated. read more

Mr. Mosbaugh has extensive expertise in the formulation of topical OTC drugs, personal care products, nutraceutical products, and sol gel chemistry. Prior to joining Nanobac, Mr. Mosbaugh was Vice President and co-founder of Tatho Materials, Inc., a material science company developing novel uses for Mr. Mosbaugh's patented silicate materials with applications into biotechnology and pharmaceuticals including bioactive glass compositions for topical and internal uses.

Prior to founding Tatho Materials, Mr. Mosbaugh acted as a Formulation Chemist and Intellectual Property consultant for numerous companies including personal care and nutraceutical manufacturers and military aerospace contractors.

Mr. Mosbaugh holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of South Florida and is presently studying for the Patent Bar.



Joseph Jacobs, M.D., M.B.A
Consulting Medical Director

Jacobs Joseph Jacobs, M.D., M.B.A is Consulting Medical Director for Calgenex. Dr. Jacobs received his medical degree from Yale University and his MBA from the Wharton School of Business. read more

Prior to his role with Calgenex, he served as director of the Office of Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Jacobs has authored and/or contributed to eight books, including Cancer: Principles and Practice of Oncology, Medical Futility and Complementary/Alternative Medicine: An Evidenced-Based Approach.




Dan Rico
Consulting Director of Sales

Rico Dan Rico is a recognized leader in the science of Nutritional Medicine to the medical, vitamin retail & nutraceutical professions. Known for his scientific and common sense approach to nutraceutical development, application, design & marketing, Dan continually excites his audiences with his sense of humor and ability to make complicated nutraceutical subjects easy to understand. read more

Dan has a history of designing condition-specific formulas and providing marketing & sales strategies for several of the largest physician directed nutraceutical companies in the world, such as Metagenics, Biogenesis, Ortho Molecular, Student Formulas, TriElements and Indiana Botanic Garden.

Dan enjoys a Master's degree in Nutritional Science specializing in nutraceutical development, application, and marketing. Moreover, Dan possesses advanced certification in Naturopathic, Homeopathic, Botanical Medicine and Physical Fitness Training. To date, Dan is one of the youngest practitioners to ever receive fellowship to The American Nutritional Medical Association and The American College of Natural Medicine.
